Cognate

Same Semitic root, same meaning — you already know this word.

Arabic root

ف-ل-ح

Hebrew root

פ-ל-ח

Same root as فلاح, 'farmer', and Aramaic פלח — a root broad enough to cover both 'to work, till' and, in Daniel, 'to serve, worship' a god (working the field and serving a lord were the same idea there). Modern Hebrew's own פלאח is simply Arabic's word for the farmer, borrowed back whole; filāḥa is just the abstract noun built on the same root, 'the craft of the fallāḥ'.
