How the two words are related

False friend

Sounds like a Hebrew word but means something else — handle with care.

Arabic root

س-ف-ر

Same root as سَافَرَ 'to travel' (already in your deck). It looks like Hebrew ס-פ-ר, but the resemblance is almost certainly a coincidence: nothing in Hebrew's 'count, tell, write' family means 'travel'. The one real meeting point is سِفْر 'book, volume' (as in أَسْفَار مُوسَى, 'the Books of Moses'), which Arabic borrowed from Aramaic, the cousin of Hebrew סֵפֶר. سفارة grows out of the travel branch: a سفير, ambassador, is 'one who journeys' between parties. Hebrew's word for embassy, שגרירות, is built on שגריר 'ambassador', from a wholly different root.
